THE SONS OF JACOB

This week, amidst many difficulties, we pressed on with the Bible School in La Sierra. The devil wanted to stop us, but God gave us the victory.

We can be sure that in the midst of the crisis, God never abandons any of His children.

Sometimes we forget that the tests are evidence that we are on the right path. This reminds me of what Don Quixote told Sancho Panza, «If the dogs are barking, it is a sign that we are moving forward.» And well, although it is a crude example, it applies very well to the situation we are living through.

And God was gracious to remind us in a painful way that trials are necessary to perfect our faith; now it was through the slander from people to whom we served for a time and who now walk among the ranks of the enemy. A sad and painful reality that many in ministry and in their personal lives have experienced, but which only serves to make us stronger and root us more deeply in Christ; certainly difficult situations, but they make us experience with greater certainty that God is with us.

1 Peter 4:12-14 NIV[12] Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. [13] But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed. [14] If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.

Thus, this weekend and in this context, God surprised us that, despite this attack intended to stop us, the children came to receive their Bible lesson. This was so because this work is of God and not of man. All that evil God used for good, to show us not only that He is in control of His work, but also that the people of the town trust us. Something that, without a doubt, is solely a product of His grace.

This time at La Escuelita, we studied about the descendants of Jacob. We saw that every baby that comes into this world is a work of divine sovereignty and a blessing from God. Children are an inheritance from their parents, and in this specific case, the children of Jacob were the continuation of God’s plan to form a nation and, at the same time, part of the fulfillment of the promise he made to Abraham.

We also advise that God has a time for everything in life, such as marriage and starting a family, etc., and that we must wait on God’s will until that moment arrives, so that these important steps result in a great blessing and not a bitter experience with terrible consequences.

Thus, we continue making progress in the lessons of the Old Testament, and also asking God to convert the souls of these children, many of whom are already adolescents and have been with us for 5 years, and that His Church may be established in this place.

I appreciate your prayers for this cause and for myself as well.

Many blessings!
