The Bible School continues its missionary work among the children of the Sierra villages, and this Saturday they learned about the great power of the Word of God, which, for example, created all the things that exist in the universe in just 6 days, a power and wisdom without comparison, capable of making the impossible come true. And in turn, His Written Word (The Bible) which has the power to clear the darkness from our hearts and show us Jesus who saves us and will lead us to God.
On this occasion, we were able to admire the great power of God and conclude that if His word is powerful enough to sustain the entire universe, how much more is it to sustain our lives and help us with every challenge we have to face in this life.
Thus, these children continue to be taught the word that is powerful to save the sinner, and to give counsel and direction to the souls who recognize its author as the Lord.
Psalm 33:6 KJVAE [6] By the word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.
When Paul was visiting Philippi, a woman named Lydia was gathered at the place of prayer, and when Paul began to preach, God opened her heart to pay attention to what Paul was saying.
Similarly, we teach the children that we need a heart attentive to the voice of God, and even more, we need to receive a new heart to love and follow Christ. An extraordinary miracle that God works in the lives of His children.
This is how we continue teaching the great truths of Jesus to these children, and praying for the salvation of their souls.
Acts 16:14 KJVAE [14] And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thy-ati´ra, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul.
This week at La Escuelita, we teach the children about the one true God.
In a culture like ours, where people are prey to many superstitions and idolatries, it is important to emphasize the existence of a single true God and creator of the entire universe.
Thus, through Paul’s experience in Athens, where he observed the religiosity and at the same time the paganism in which the people lived, trapped in ignorance and even having a temple to worship «the Unknown God»; in the face of this need, Paul seizes the opportunity to present the true God, and thus free the confused hearts of those who would believe in Him.
In the same way, nowadays many in these towns are captive to the worship of objects and sculptures that do not listen to them or give them hope. And the answer to this dilemma is Christ, who is the bridge between men and the only genuine God.
Acts 17:24-25 KJVAE [24] God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; [25] neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;
Let’s keep praying for the salvation of these children!
The faithfulness of the Lord is a sufficient reason to encourage us and bring peace to our hearts by having the certainty that He guides the destiny of His work, and that in every situation He allows us to live, He will be with His people to help them strive to fulfill their task.
Over the years in the missionary journey, I have witnessed His faithfulness at all times, and this is one of the promises that has kept me active in this work, and at the same time, one of the most important lessons I have had to learn: «To trust in the Lord even when nothing seems to make sense or appears impossible to do.»
The faithfulness of God is the guarantee for all those who decide to entrust their lives to Him, knowing that He will never abandon them and that His purpose in their lives will be fulfilled. It is not in vain to lose this life for Jesus and to trust in His power.
For the child of God, there is no greater desire in this life than for God to be glorified through him, for his entire life to be an acceptable offering before the eyes of the One who has granted him so much love.
I still remember those early years when we arrived here with two small children, when my wife and I decided to trust in the Lord’s promises and live by faith for this mission, during which doubt and fear often overwhelmed me, sometimes thinking that I had chosen the wrong profession, fearing that I might lack sustenance, fearing the dangers that the Sierra represented, etc… Until, in the midst of trials and over time, the Lord taught us that He is faithful to all His servants, and I am certain that He will continue to be so until the end. So we can walk with confidence knowing that the Almighty will never forsake us. And even though today it seems that things are moving slowly, I know that the Lord will work in the hearts of those He is going to save in these towns. The Lord is not in a hurry! He is in control of the times, and at the right moment, the complete reason why He brought us here will be revealed. Our heavenly Father is pleased that His servants trust Him blindly.
The man who acts this way will never be confused, because he places his hope in the one who certainly always fulfills what He desires and who never lies.
Something completely absurd for this culture, which classifies faith as ignorance and weakness, and which cannot conceive of anything more reliable and powerful than its own arm, which is nothing more than a fist of insignificant clay.
This is indeed too absurd to accept. But such is the wisdom of this world, which makes wise men believe they are right when in reality they are completely wrong about the most important matters.
Meanwhile, sharing the Gospel remains our challenge in these towns, in the face of a generation skeptical and hardened by evil; and yet we must continue to move forward and not lose heart because Jesus has a chosen people to call. This month, although cold, the missionary work continued forward, trusting in the Lord to share the message and also for provision.
Where His grace never failed to help us share the message of love and hope that redeems the sinner.
Our Lord Jesus was deeply moved by the multitudes wandering through Israel without hope, like sheep without a shepherd, devoid of direction because they did not possess the light of God in their hearts.
In the same way, I think that we, His servants, should share that same feeling and ask God for the empathy that leads us to feel His affliction when we see our fellow beings perish without salvation, and ask the Lord of the harvest to send workers into His harvest.
Matthew 9:36-38 NKJV
And seeing the multitudes, He had compassion for them, because they were distressed and downcast like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, «The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.» [38] Therefore, ask the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.»
And why should we do it? Because He is worthy of all honor, because we must love our neighbor, and because we will soon leave this world and will no longer be able to do it.
We must not forget that the Gospel is a message of love that is best expressed through our actions. What you love determines who you are, and if Christ is the most prominent affection in your heart, you would have no objection to doing what He commanded.
So in January, we continue with the Bible School, and in this work, the children have continued learning the divine counsel that will make them wise. This through the book of Proverbs.
We know that at this age it is very easy to get lost due to all the misinformation that exists and also because of the anti-Christian influence that proliferates in our culture, and thus the Word of God becomes the opportunity to provide knowledge that helps these children make the right decisions that guide them in their lives with the aim of honoring Christ, but also to avoid the pain that comes from the mistakes in which many young people commonly fall.
As I have said before, these children are growing up, and now they are targets of many temptations. Their parents are not believers, which means that in their homes they neither receive an example nor counsel from the Word of God. But, the Word is powerful and effective in bringing light to these hearts, so that they may find direction for the challenges they will face and, above all, salvation in Jesus. For this reason, we do not doubt that the Lord can use the preaching given at La Escuelita Biblica to prepare their hearts for the moment when God wants to show them His divine favor.
Please, let’s continue praying for the salvation of these children!
In turn, the church ministry continues, and this month has been very busy. We continue with the preaching in two weekly meetings, teaching about the book of Matthew, where it is important to learn about the earthly life of Jesus and His work of redemption for those who trust in Him. Also, apart from the meetings, we have continued visiting people in their homes, with the purpose of encouraging them and continuing to build them up with the Word.
And especially this month has been about serving our neighbors. Some of the people who come to listen to the message and who are alone, with afflictions that make their living conditions difficult in this place, etc., and well, God has granted us the opportunity to serve them in various ways and accompany them in their trials, just as Jesus did with those who were in need. And this reminds me of Christ’s words about our true vocation, which is not to lord over His flock, but to serve them.
Matthew 20:26 KJVAE [26] But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister;
And it is the Lord who does everything this way so that these people may praise God and see that He is exceedingly merciful.
Please continue praying for us and this ministry in La Sierra Tarahumara.
