I used to think that children are the church of tomorrow, but now I believe they are part of the church of today.
For us, the present is the opportunity to sow the gospel in their hearts, teaching them and hoping in the Lord that the seed of truth may prosper at the right time for salvation, and that they may become men and women who fear God, determined to do His will.
In some cases, regarding the topic of missions, God grants certain men the ability to plant a church and see their work prosper quickly, growing both in members and resources, etc. I do not complain, but it seems that for others like me, God takes pleasure in keeping us in a process where He teaches us patience and faithfulness and, in turn, the great lesson that the power to change lives belongs only to Him. This, without a doubt, should lead us to grow in faith and, at the same time, continue maturing, preparing ourselves for the moment when the harvest will come. And well, thank God that we will not be judged based on our success, but on our faithfulness, and undoubtedly, this perspective is a great school to teach me to be faithful despite the difficulties.
In an era where everything is immediate, where people no longer know how to wait, where everything is accessible with a click, I believe that God takes pleasure in our ability to continue trusting in Him and waiting in situations like these.
And I always encourage myself by remembering that we walk by faith and not by sight; we pursue what is not seen today, but we believe it will happen because faithful is He who promised, isn’t He? And He will fulfill His purpose for which He brought us to this place.
Working with children during this time is undoubtedly something very rewarding and valuable, especially when it involves guiding them in the word of God.
This week we teach you how God brings us closer to heaven through His son.
Just as Jacob’s dream of the ladder connecting heaven and earth, so Jesus came to be the means through which we can access God and find life and purpose.
I always talk a lot about purpose in my lessons, maybe because I was a very lost young person in this matter and also because we are in a time where there is much confusion and despair, where despite the many options and conveniences, people feel empty and, especially, young people need to know that nothing will make them happy and give them true meaning to their existence except for Christ.
I believe that if they come to understand this in time, they will avoid many setbacks, and even if they do suffer them, they will remember that in Jesus there is the cure for the emptiness of the heart.
So it is worth continuing this work because it is for Christ, because these children are important, and because I am sure that one day the Lord will reveal the reason for all this hard work.
Let’s continue praying for this work!
Revelation 2:10 NIV[10]
Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you life as your victor’s crown.
